Salvadoran Foreign Minister meets with Senator Lugar

Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Richard Lugar.

Minister Martinez provided the Senator first- hand information on the dialogue process that began with all political parties in order to contribute to a solution for the current situation between the Supreme Court of Justice and the Legislative Assembly in El Salvador.

In addition, the head of Salvadoran diplomacy informed the Senator about the results of the meeting that the Minister held, along with the Technical Secretary of the Presidency, on the 23rd of this month, with Department of State, Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

Senator Lugar welcomed the visit of the Foreign Minister and said that El Salvador has always been of great interest to his administration and in that context, the Senator expressed his best wishes for the dialogue process being promoted by President Mauricio Funes to finalize as soon as possible and successfully.

The Ambassador of El Salvador in the United States, Francisco Altschul, accompanied the Minister to the meeting.
